Let’s talk: weaves.
Yup, theirs no shame in adding a little length and volume to your natural head of hair – if anything, I encourage a little weave action in your everyday mix.
I gotta admit, extensions and I have come a long way.
I sported my first pair of faux locks in the eighth grade, after BEGGING [full on BF] my parents to buy me some because I truly felt like I needed them.
One trip to Sally Beauty Supply and fifty dollars later – I was ready to feel all the Kim K vibes.
Long story short, the extensions were far from good quality and the extensions were VERY obvious.
My hair was also jet black back then so I just ended up looking like the grudge – except worse [is that even possible?]
My haircut didn’t blend with the extensions, i didn’t know how to properly clip them in – oh and my favorite part, I treated these extensions s o o o horribly.
Like, if you can get arrested for weave neglect-ion I’d probably still be locked up.
Needless to say, after this experience I sort of gave up on extensions.
Well, after massive FOMO [fear of missing out] when it came to having long locks – I was ready to dive back into the world of weave.
Let me just say, there are SO many options when it comes extensions.
Overwhelmed was a definite understatement.
You can go all in with tape-ins, sew ins, etc.
Or if you’re not ready for all that commitment just yet, you can go for my personal favs – clip ins.
I’ll be honest, up until a few months ago I was by no means an extensions expert – but my girls over at My Fantasy Hair really helped me out.
They not only offer “remy” [pure human hair] but all of their extensions are double drawn – meaning these bad boys will give you ultimate volume which is exactly what I was looking for.
I think one of the toughest things for me about the process was deciding what shade to go with [if any other blondes are reading this, you feel me!]
But My Fantasy Hair actually offers a service wear you can send a lock of your hair, and they’ll match it perfectly.
You can also send over pictures of what you’re hair currently looks like and they can give tips on shades that may work for you too.
After sending over a few photos we decided to go with the shade Butterscotch from the Super Deluxe Collection.
Now the 10 piece set is a l o t of hair, so sometimes I’ll play down my looks with 5 wefts to add just a bit of length while other times I’ll go all in with the 10 wefts and have ultimate bombshell hair.
Each set also includes a carrying pouch with a hair hanger which is perfect for traveling, I took the set along with me to Spain and the carrying pouch made it a breeze to travel with.
